Day 22: Evaluating Sources (Follow up)

Objectives

* To finish evaluating sources for the GRP
* To start evaluation sources for the IRP
* To look ahead in the process of writing a RP: annotated bibliographies, outlines

1. Evaluating sources for the GRP

a) Check this handout on Evaluating Academic Sources and answer the questions to the best of your ability.

b) Now check the answers. Reflect on your own search for sources and on the sources you actually have.

c)Go over the evaluation you made of your sources as a homework. Make sure you have taken into consideration all the different aspects on reliability and validity. It is important that you remember you will be reading this source entirely, not only to get acquainted with the topic but to obtain specific information that you will include in your paper.

d) Forms groups of two. Present each other the sources you found and explain why you think each particular source is reliable.

e) Choose two sources to present on the GRP Google Doc. Make sure you indicate:
* names of students posting the information
* title of article
* for what type of information this article will likely be used (background, solution, organization)
* link to the article
* a statement of reliability ( 2-3 sentences)

2. The same procedure should be applied to the sources for your IRP.

Homework
Present your three sources the same way for your IRP. Upload them on Dropbox by next Friday, March 9, 12:00.
